This may sound odd. But today, I’m thankful for a torn meniscus in my left knee. Well, maybe it is not that I’m thankful for the torn meniscus. Rather, it is the pain in that knee right now that helps me realize how much of my body is really healthy. I’m not hurting in my back today or my hips or my elbow or any other joints. Yes, I’m hurting pretty good in one joint, but it could really be so much worse. The one source of pain actually reminds me how good I really have it. I guess it is true that I would prefer to be completely pain free, but then I probably wouldn’t notice it at all and would just take it for granted.

My goal is to pursue the care for my knee instead of ignoring it, but to remain thankful for what a small thing this really is.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this body You’ve given me. It does so much that I don’t even think about. But every movement, every system, every breath is a gift from You. Thank You. I am all Yours today; do with me as You will.
