Today, I’m thankful for college students. Not just my own. Tonight, I will have the opportunity to meet with a group of young men in the dorms of a nearby college full of Christians who want to talk about the dangers of pornography and how to overcome. I’m thankful that these young men are willing to talk about touchy topics. I’m a little nervous because, honestly, these discussions often trigger slips. But I know these discussions are necessary to help others. I’m thankful for the opportunity.
My goal today is to be present in the discussion. Then to rely on God and my support systems to avoid my own obsessions, compulsions, and addictions when the discussion is over.
Holy and Powerful God, thank You for using me to help others. Strengthen me to help while being on the lookout that I will not be overcome by temptation. Remove any sense of moral licensing from me that will make tonight’s discussion a mind game of permission to fall into sin. Give me wisdom to say true and helpful things. I am all Yours today; do with me as You will.
