Today, I’m thankful for new perspectives on food and eating. Over the past month, I’ve been on a journey with food that moved from an extremely restrictive diet to a very freeing understanding of how food and eating actually work. I am learning to enjoy food and meal time again instead of being afraid of it. I’ve got a long way to go. But I’m super excited about this journey. I haven’t been excited about eating in a long time.
My goal today is to listen to my body when it says it is hungry and when it says it is full. My goal today is to eat without guilt, knowing I have permission to eat whatever I eat today again later when I get hungry again. My goal today is to avoid both restricting and binging, the former doesn’t help and the latter is a waste. My goal today is to eat as God designed my body to eat.
Almighty God, thank You for designing my body to heal itself and care for itself. Forgive me for not listening to the design instrument and tool You have given. Give me training and wisdom to develop the skill of listening to the body You have designed so that it may have the strength and energy to do the work you have designed it to do. I am all Yours today; do with me as you will.
