Today,  I’m thankful for freedom. And while I’m thankful that I live in a country that grants me the freedom to worship and serve God as He sees fit, that isn’t really what I’m talking about. I’m not talking about freedom of speech or religion. I’m talking about freedom from sin. Sin was my task master. There was nothing I could do to throw off its reign. However, Jesus went to the cross to defeat sin and death. I am forgiven. I am free. Yes, it is a growth process. Yes, I still stumble and fall more regularly than I like. But my sin does not define me. My Savior does. I’m free. Thank God.

My goal today is to walk in that freedom. Since my sin doesn’t define me and isn’t my identity, I don’t have to walk by its shackles. I can live differently. I can live for Jesus. I can’t present my members to God as instruments of righteousness. That is my goal today.

Great God in Heaven, You have set me free. Thank You. Hold my hand today and lift me up out of the mire of my past sins. Let me walk on the water with you. When I sink, give me the wisdom to turn back to You and not back to the boat. I am all Yours today; do with me as You will.
