Today, I’m thankful for waking up. Of course, I’m thankful that I was able to wake up. That is grace all by itself. But beyond that, I’m trying to get back into regular morning exercise and running. Today, I woke up an hour before my alarm, ready to go. It wasn’t one of those, “Oh man! How could that happen? Now I’m missing out on an hour of sleep.” Rather, it was, “Hot dog! I feel good. Let’s get up and go running.” I’m thankful for that today, because I promise you, that doesn’t happen often.
My goal today is to avoid distractions and procrastinations. I’ve got quite a few projects I’m juggling right now. It’s easy in that state to decide to escape. Sometimes the escapes are morally harmless. However, sometimes, even those seemingly harmless escapes lead to sinful escapes. My goal today is to avoid all non-God focused escape mechanisms.
Almighty God, You are my strength and my shield. You are my rock and my redeemer. You lead me beside still waters. You restore my soul. You make me lie down in green pastures. I need no escape, because You are my rest and my renewal. Make of me today what You want me to be. I am all Yours today; do with me as You will.
