Today, I’m thankful for “Pilgrim’s Progress.” It’s one of those books I’ve always said I need to read, but just never got around to. That’s the problem with classics, I always think they will be boring. However, this last week, I saw the recently release animated movie based on the book. It was so moving, I decided to pull the book down from our shelf (yes, I already owned it) and start reading. It has been very helpful. As trite as the allegory can seem and as “on the nose” as it gets, it actually cuts through some of the self-justifying philosophizing I do about life and serving the Lord to just call a spade a spade in my life. Perhaps “enjoying it” is not the thing to say. But it is helping me. For that, I’m thankful.

My goal today is to keep reading and to continue being a Christian Pilgrim on the path to the Celestial City of God. My goal is to avoid every other way and eschew every voice that wants to lead me astray. When I stumble and fall, my goal is to get back up and step back on the way of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your truth which sets me free. Thank You for bringing it to me through various people and opportunities. Thank You for beating me over the head with it. I need it. I am all Yours today; do with me as You will.

Please, in order to encourage your fellow travelers, share your gratitude, goals, and prayers in the comments section below.
