This weekend, I’m thankful for my kids. I have four. (No, the picture connected with this post is not them.) One of them is preparing to get married and leave. The next is in college and wanting to leave. So, I have lots of sad thoughts about that. I mean, I know we are supposed to raise up our kids so they can leave us and go start their own families. And, for that, I’m excited they are heading that direction. Anyway, it has me in this mix of emotions. Anyway, I’m very thankful for my kids. We’ve had good times and tough times. We’ve had fun times and arguments. Sometimes they’ve been mad at me, sometimes I’ve been mad at them. There are plenty of regrets. There are plenty of things I’m happy about. But I’m thankful that God gave them to us. They are all healthy. They are all growing. They are all getting maturity. Even when they completely blow it, they are still growing up. I’m thankful for my kids.
My goal today is to still be dad. To love my children. To look at the positive side of things even when facing the tough times.
Almighty God, thank You for my children, my family. Thank You for their health. Thank You for their maturity. Please protect them and draw them closer to You. I am all Yours this weekend, do with me as You will.
