Today, I’m thankful for weddings. I am officiating a wedding this weekend. To be truthful, there is a lot I don’t like about weddings. However, I do love the opportunity to remember the gospel that a wedding affords. Marriage was a mystery for generations. However, Paul explained that the purpose for marriage was to represent Jesus Christ and His church. I love being reminded of that. I love getting to explain that. And I do love seeing two people start on that journey.
My goal this weekend is to remember the lessons of the gospel from marriage and apply them to my own marriage. I am supposed to be Jesus in the marriage. I am supposed to be the sacrificing servant.
Almighty God, thank You for Jesus and His sacrifice. Thank You for saving me by His death, burial, and resurrection. Thank You for taking me into Your Bride and by His death preparing me to be spotless, without blemish when He presents me before You in judgment. Strengthen me today to live by that relationship and salvation. I am all Yours this weekend; do with me as You will.
