This week, I’m thankful for everything! I know that seems like I’m cheating. For my sermon this past Sunday, I studied and spoke about 1 Corinthians 4:7: “What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?” As an American Christian, I like to deceive myself with the myth of independence and rugged individualism. But, really everything I have–my life, my breath, my health, my family, my home, my car, my computer, my clothes, my bed, my opportunities, my resources, my abilities, my everything–is a gift from God. I’m thankful.

My goal this week is to be thankful. My goal is to be thoroughly thankful. I want to give thanks in every circumstance for every gift. My God is good. Even when things aren’t going my way or I’m facing something dreadful, God is always there and has always seen me through.

Almighty God, thank You. Thank You for everything. Thank You for the blessings large and small, for my salvation and forgiveness, for my life and health, for my body and ability to move, for my wife and children, for my home and car, for the fact that I’m breathing today, for the water I have to drink and the food to eat. You have blessed me more than I deserve. Thank You. I am all Yours today; do with me as You will.

As I’m sure you’ve notice, I haven’t been able to get daily posts up. I won’t be able to this week either. However, every day you are able, please share your gratitude, goals, and prayers in the comments section below. That is a big help to your fellow travelers.

Oh yeah! And Happy Thanksgiving!
