Today, I’m thankful for preaching. I know that sounds odd. We often speak of preaching in the negative. “I hate when people preach at me.” But I love preaching. I love good preaching. This week, I’m going to get to hear lots of good preaching. I probably won’t like everything I hear. But I always learn from everything I hear. That is good for me. I need to listen to the preaching of God’s Word. It helps me remember I’m not as great at it as I always like to think I am. It helps humble me. I need that a lot.
My goal today and throughout this week is to listen without a spirit of arrogance and competition. I want to listen to learn and grow.
Glorious God, help me be engaged with the preaching of Your Word this week. Humble me by the preaching of Your Word this week. Grow me by the preaching of Your Word this week. I am all Yours today; do with me as You will.
