Today, I’m thankful for my elders, the shepherds in my home congregation. Yesterday, I had a meeting with them. My favorite part is the spiritual check in where we all share what is going on with us, strengths, struggles, victories, danger zones. I appreciate their love for the brothers and sisters, their care and concern for Christ’s church, their wisdom. I’m thankful God has put such men in my life to help me grow.
My goal today is to make the job of my shepherds easier. I want them to be able to do their job with me with joy not sighing and groaning. Further, my goal is to do eldery stuff. I’m not an elder. But if I ever hope to be one, I need to start right now doing what I can that is in that role, looking to myself and caring for the flock around me.
Holy Shepherd of souls, thank You for my shepherds. Thank You for qualifying them to work in this flock. Thank You for their guidance and counsel. Thank You for their example. Strengthen me to be a source of joy for them. Strengthen me to care for the flock as much as I can. I am all Yours today; do with me as You will.
