People are congregating today and with that can come some crazy stuff. For some, they are around drugs and alcohol. For others, it is a reminder of past July 4ths when the day was a big party. How do recovering people handle such a day? Here are a few suggestions: going to recovery meetings,walking meditations in the yard, park or various spots in the community, getting with church folks, a plan to see fireworks, if fireworks trigger post trauma anxiety find a quiet spot to chill, visit a recovery club in your community, prayer, call a peer supporter, use leaving the pit behind networks. Cravings and triggers are there strongest for about 20 minutes. You can make it through 20 minutes, right? Any other ideas?
